1. How long does the course last?

Regular session evening courses (for ex., Tajiki A1.1 and A1.2) take place twice a week over 8 weeks and last 2 hours each for 32 hours total.

2. Who is the course for?

The course is aimed at a wide range of students with a general interest in Eurasian languages. No prior knowledge of the target language is required as the course is for complete beginners.

The A1.1 language course is open for all beginner's at every level and there are no prerequisites to participate to this section.

The A1.2 language course is reserved for our current students and previous students who have completed the A1.1 level with satisfactory attendance. Intermediate level students who may need a light refreshing also may enroll. 

Any student seeking enrollment at a level higher than A1.1 will be given a brief proficiency assessment interview with a Rudaki instructor prior to the start of classes.

3. What are the objectives of the course?

For students to acquire basic language skills and to achieve all levels of certification, from A1 Beginners from C2 Mastery, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTRL) .

4. By the end of the A1.1 course you will:

  • Understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of needs of a concrete type. 

  • Introduce yourself and others and can ask and answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have.

  • Interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

5. How is the course taught?

The course will be conducted online via Zoom. A communicative approach is used. All four skills (speaking, reading, listening and writing) are practiced, with the main emphasis on speaking. Students engage in interactive language activities, participating in group and pair work according to a syllabus based on systematic grammatical progression.

6. What course can I do next after A1.1?

After completing this course, students should be ready to join an A1.2 course at the Rudaki Language Academy. 

7. Textbook and exercise materials

Students are will receive a digital copy of the Rudaki Language Academy’s textbook from the institution during their first week of the course.

8. How do I enroll in classes? 

Your enrollment to the Intensive Farsi, Tajiki, Dari or Pashto language course as well as the Afghan Language Immersion Program (Parts I & II) will not be considered complete unless you submit your official "Course Application Form" and "Personal Statement Essay." The prompts for these two items will be sent to the email you provide once you register for the class on Eventbrite.
